This is Marvella the shield praying mantis from As This is Marvella the shield praying mantis from Asia. She’s a proud mom of 9 still living babies. The rest were either eaten by their siblings or the crickets i feed her. I never noticed her ooethica, the egg sac they lay, but realized there were babies that I could rescue. They are currently very small and in individual containers with flightless fruit flies for their meal. I gave 4 to Kim and I still have 5. Can’t wait until they become mom’s size. Mantis are very important as they eat other bugs. Gardeners will often buy mantis to release in their gardens for natural pest control. I find them extremely fascinating! Thank you Lord Jesus, for creating these creatures along with all of the other wildlife you’ve blessed us with!
